Criminal Law Updates from July and August 2024
This presentation is the 17th in what is a monthly presentation examining important documents that Colin has been reading in a given month – Colin will choose documents of relevance and importance to anyone involved in the area of criminal law – each presentation will last for 30 minutes and will give you the ‘distilled essence’ of most of the documents considered – all of the actual documents will also be available for you to read at your leisure as part of the presentation material provided.

This presentation will cover 8 documents in total – here are just some examples of the things you will learn about:
- Statutory Instrument 2024 No. 844 – The Criminal Justice Act 2003 (Requisite and Minimum Custodial Periods) Order 2024 – release for some prisoners at 40% of their sentence
- Statutory Instrument 2024 No. 755 – The Victims and Prisoners Act 2024 (Commencement) Regulations 2024 and the abolition of the ‘4 year rule’ as regards early release
- A consideration of 3 published documents concerning Domestic Violence Protection Notices and Domestic Violence Protection Orders
