Ask a Question

According to the government, someone should be able to obtain a Grant of Representation within 16 weeks of submitting an application. Since the pandemic, the range seems to be between three weeks and three years. In this webinar, we will be considering the current landscape when making a probate application, and how to look at obtaining these with minimal delay. This will include considering:

  • Delays with government bodies – what to expect?
  • What is the actual delay with the Probate Registry? Is it getting better?
  • What are the key changes that have occurred in the last few years to probate?
  • Common causes of probate delays – STOPS
  • Other issues that have not helped
  • Adverse impacts of a delay in probate
  • What has been the impact on charities?
  • What can be done to minimise and/or prevent the risk of delay?
  • What does the future in probate?
  • Trends in charity legacies for the future

Learning Objectives:

To understand the current landscape when considering and/or making a probate application and how to navigate this process, as best as possible. This would include an understanding of the progress that has been made, and the likely implications involved to family members, beneficiaries, professionals in the private client sector, charities, and government bodies. This will also consider the issues that likely to arise and/or trends for the future for professionals in the private sector to be aware of.
