Session 6 in a suite of regulatory updates for 2024 the session will focus on the ways in which we can generate new business for our firm. When it comes to marketing there are a number of tried and trusted methods we can deploy – reputation, discounts, introductions from third parties, referrals from business associates – and there is much history behind ‘buying in’ a client by agreeing to fee-share with an introducer. Learning Objectives:

  • What marketing methods we can deploy
  • What the current rules are surrounding publicity
  • How we can structure referral arrangements to our best advantage
  • Can we still pay for a client referral?
  • ‘Other firms are available’ - what, if anything, we must tell clients about their free choice of who to instruct
