This on-demand title will cover the Accounts Rules promulgated by the SRA in November 2019, just in advance of the pandemic lockdowns. As things are now easing, they are asking firms to review their experience of the new, briefer, rules.

But what are they exactly? What impact have they had on your firm? What relaxations can we take advantage of under the new, much briefer, provisions? What should I be charging VAT on, now? What can, and should, I do about interest payments to clients? What of negative interest rates? What are the duties of the COFA now?

Learning objectives:

  • The thinking of the SRA behind the SAR 2019
  • The new briefer Rules in outline
  • The position in relation to VAT
  • What exactly is a ‘disbursement’?
  • NO banking facilities...ever!!
  • The new rules on interest
  • New duties in relation to clients’ own accounts
  • The improved position on Accountant’s reports
  • Relationship between the COFA and the Accountant
  • What are TPMAs? Should I open one?
